Neil Patrick Harris Leads Epcot Candlelight Processional

Epcot's Candlelight Processional  with Neil Patrick Harris and Dinner at La Hacienda de San Angel

This page wraps up our day and night at Epcot with Neil Patrick Harris for the Candlelight Processional, a late lunch at Italy's Wine Cellar and dinner and fireworks at La Hacienda de San Angel.

After see the SpaceX cargo rocket, all four of us went into the American Adventure and listened to the Voices of Liberty singers. I sat on the floor directly at the feet of the singers in a semi-circle under the 40-foot high rotunda. They are a very talented and impressive group. I did, however, get my exercise in trying to sit upright on the floor for their whole show. I'll probably find a column to prop up against next time.

After the vocal show, the four of us ate a late lunch at the Wine Cellar in Italy. It was my second time coming to this little restaurant. If they ask you if you are going to eat, say yes even if it is just for an appetizer. There is a bar, but there are not chairs. You'd have to stand at the bar. The lady seating next to our table recommended the meatballs so that is exactly what I ordered. I shared them with everyone and they were amazing. Try them on your next meal there.

We walked a bit further after that. It was getting cooler so I bought a Mickey hooded zipped-front jersey in Africa (it doesn't look anything to remind you of Africa, strictly Disney) and then back to the Candlelight Processional line. There were plenty of people ahead of us, but we managed to get second row seats - slightly obstructed by the drum section, but still second row seats. The musicians and the singers put on a talented and entertaining Christmas story with Neil Patrick Harris narrating. We all thoroughly enjoyed it all.

We thoroughly enjoyed the show. After the show, we continued our walk around the lagoon looking for chipmunks for Maureen in Germany, China, Norway and Mexico. We found them all. We took the Gran Fiesta Tour boat ride in Mexico. It is a nice and relaxing water ride. You would truly appreciate this ride on hot vacation days.

It was too early for our dinner reservation so we spent money at the gift shops and then back the La Hacienda de San Angel. They sat us first at a booth with no view of the fireworks. Our main reason for eating there was to view the fireworks so they moved us to a table by the large windows facing the lagoon. The corn soup is a tasty appetizer. I could have eaten bowls of that. Our timing was perfect and we finished dinner just before the fireworks started. We did get to see the fireworks from Hollywood Studios first. Those went off while we were eating our entrees.

This was a very eventful day at Epcot and a great way to wrap up our Christmas trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando. I'm glad I got to go with Kevin, Maureen and Carolyn. We all missed Mike, Sharon, Beth, Al and the rest of you. Hopefully, more of you can meet me at Disney World on my next trip (I'm aiming for February 2019). See you then!

Of course, I cannot end this without showing you how much Carolyn enjoyed the trip.

She earned her ears!

Going to Disney World for Christmas

Sunday December 2nd 2018 , I rode with Kevin and Carolyn to Disney World. I've been to Disney World with Kevin many trips these past few years. This was the first time I've been to Disney World with Carolyn and its been about forty something years since Carolyn has been to Disney World. She says Kevin was only two years old when she went last! I never went when I was a kid. My first trip was in my late 30's, but I do love my little mid-life crisis. This next screenshot shows our route in blue. We covered 474 + miles over 7 + hours, including 2 time zones and a couple of toll booths. We got an early start on the drive, but it was not as early as we had planned. A strong storm system blew across Pensacola before the sun came up and we waited for it to pass before we started loading up the car. The storm was actually moving to the northeast so we had to drive through some really intense rain and thunder storms east of Crestview. We also drove through the area on

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party

Tuesday December 4, 2018 Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party I worked part of Tuesday from the hotel room again. I met Maureen, Kevin and Carolyn for lunch at Disney Springs Art Smith's Homecomin' restaurant. They were already seated on the porch on the water by the time I got there. We had a good lunch and then they did some shopping before we took a short afternoon break back at our hotels. Maureen met us at Coronado Springs and we all took a bus (not Maureen's preferred mode of transportation) to Magic Kingdom for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. Maureen and Mike had bought party tickets for us all. Thanks Mike! Thanks Maureen! The first thing that Kevin had us do was get photos with Winnie the Pooh and his pals - Eeyore, Piglet and Tigger. We got some cute photos and then Maureen and I rode the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. I realized on this ride that Pooh and his buddies had a very dangerous neighborhood. There were tornadoes, floods and it s

Be Our Guest at Magic Kingdom

Monday, December 3rd 2018  was a half day for me. I worked all day (or at least most of the day) from the hotel room at Coronado Springs. As soon as I could wrap up client work for the day, I jumped on a bus and headed over to Magic Kingdom to meet Maureen, Kevin and Carolyn. Maureen and I had FastPasses for Peter Pan - my favorite ride at Magic Kingdom. It was great flying over London and realizing that I would actually be in London in just a few weeks. Our flying ship stopped unexpectedly as we were flying over the Indian campfire. We lurched forward twice before the ride got underway again. When they say rides can start at any time without notice, they really mean it. After Peter Pan, Maureen and I met Kevin and Carolyn on the bridge in front of the Beast's castle. We did not have to wait very long before they announced our names and walked us into the castle for dinner at Be Our Guest. It was an early dinner but Be Our Guest is always crowded. We were seated in the main di
